The Rising of Yumeria

Yumeria: Empire of the Emerald Crown.

The Halkona Codex Oceanis (a fragmented work of early Aseti philosophers and historians) tells of a mighty sea empire called Yumeria that was destroyed by a cataclysmic event some 8,000 years ago (some scholars place it as early as 12,000 years, others as late as 5,000), which marked the beginning of the Age of Destruction. Various legends hold that the Khronish Pirates are the descendants of a splinter faction that was forced to flee the Yumerian empire during its prime. The Islands of Halkona (Dawnward Islands) are said to be the outer remnants of this empire. Aseti scholars have uncovered ruins on the major Halkona islands that seem to give credence to this legend.
After the destruction wreaked by the Weapon of Phyrras, a mysterious vortex appeared in the eastern Phyrran Sea. Explorers sent into this vortex discovered the deserted remains of an ancient city. Subsequent exploration and study confirmed much of the surviving Yumerian references in the Codex Oceanis. This city was called Yumera, the capital of legendary Yumeria. What became of its people is not known. The Halkonian philosopher Tararic believed that the Yumerians fled in what he termed the Great Diaspora, which, according to Tararic, eventually created the foundation for the rise of such great civilizations as Felshia, Benecia, and Darias. From the collected treasures, historical records, and other recovered items, it is quite apparent that the Yumerians possessed a highly advanced culture and were absolute masters of the sea. Further exploration and study is ongoing by the Phyrran Council of Antiquities.
