[edit] FAQ
- We realize that many questions will crop up between now and the crowning of the World Champion. Here we will try to answer those questions but this page is not meant to replace the official terms and conditions. All decisions by The Judges (aka Blerg, Bhaal, Tadius and Starry) are final. We all know they are a fair and just bunch.
- What is the purpose of the WDC?
The purpose is to have a great event where everyone has lots of fun and we get to give a little something back to the people who have helped support us. The secondary purpose is to have fun. Finally, the idea behind the whole thing is to have fun. Finally, we are looking to increase fun, game-wide by 10-100%. And yeah, we're also going to crown a champion.
- Why is the tournament structured the way it is? Why not a Swiss or other style tournament?
We did this last year and it worked very well. We're confident that everyone agreed the best player won (or at least one of the best players). The current mixture of elements from ladders, single elimination and swiss style tournaments was decided upon as the most fair and entertaining methods, given the technical constraints of the current tournament system.
- Will Respecs be allowed during the week of competition?
Originally, we didn't plan to change the current respec process as it relates to tournaments. We have changed our mind based on the feedback of our players and respecs will not be allowed for those participating in the WDC.
- How will the Semi-Final tournament be seeded?
The Semi-Finals will be seeded according to ladder rankings and further Semi-Final rounds will be seeded according to previous rounds and the ladder (for tie-breaking purposes).
- Will players be allowed to enter multiple alternate characters?
While Alts are not expressly forbidden from entering the WDC ladder, the WDC Judges reserve the right to remove any characters whom we feel are flagrantly disruptive to the spirit of the competition. A player is allowed to enter at most four (4) avatars in the WDC ladder. Entering more can get all of your avatars removed from the tournament. Alts will not be allowed in the WDC finals (see the part about Judges, decisions and final).
- What happens if their are technical difficulties during the tournament?
In the case of technical issues or in any situation in which there is a dispute as to the outcome of a game, the WDC Judges reserve the right to determine the winner.
- Will the winners' Artifact items be bonded to the character?
The player-designed Artifact items will function exactly like existing Artifact items.
- Will the custom Artifacts power be more or less than existing Artifacts?
While the player will have input into determining the functionality of the item, it will be equatable, power-wise, to existing Artifact items.
- Will the winners' Artifact item be one of a kind or will there be multiple copies for sale?
Currently, there are no plans to release more than one version of this item. However, Team Duels reserves the right to include the item in possible future expansions.
- Any chance for a balance update before the WDC?
Balance adjustments will be made on their normal schedule. Please visit the News and Updates forum for additional information.
- I am level 45 but I don't want to compete in the competition. Is there anything I can do?
We have worked hard to provide something fun for players of every skill and experience level. Stay tuned for further details!
