Tournaments

[edit] What are tournaments?
Tournaments are competitions involving a group of four to sixty four duelists. There are several tournaments held at the same time, each with a different range of required level. Registration is done either by clicking on the notice of tournaments near the top of most pages or clicking applicable tournaments in the tournaments frame in the arena tab. In tournaments, only one avatar may be used. This is to prevent total control of a tournament because more than one avatar can be made; therefore, someone could fill a whole tournament with all of their avatars. The tournaments involve multiple matches, each involving two competitors, with the overall tournament winner determined based on the results of these individual matches. All tournaments are single elimination. A single loss removes you from the competition. If combatants are logged off at the time of their matches, or if a combatant waits longer than five minutes to accept a tournament challenge, then they will lose by forfeit. The tournament itself lasts a relatively short time(5 minute rounds). Rewards for winning tournaments are greater than rewards for most duels. There are varying costs to join tournaments; a higher required level for a tournament equals a greater fee (and a greater possible reward). In a tournament duel, it is a good idea to use scrolls or action to your advantage, as the reward for winning a tournament outweighs the cost of using a scroll or action (unless you use multiple valuable scrolls or actions).
[edit] Types of tournaments
The High Stakes Tournament offers great rewards for great risk. There are multiple types of tournaments normally involving the tier's of the items allowed. The Epic Tournaments are tournaments require epic items or less no higher than that, while the 'classic' tournaments allow no actions. The level requirements are 1-4,5-9,10-14,15-19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45. Tournaments do NOT affect your win/loss percentage, but they still award you XP, tokens, and occasionally gold. Your seeding will depend on what level you are first. Then, you are placed by what your record percentage is. If you have the highest percentage then you will be seed #1.
[edit] Rewards
When you win tournaments, you get different prizes. Tokens are awarded to those who get either 1st, 2nd or 3rd place(Only 1st and 2nd place get a reward in 4 man tournaments.) Not only that, but those who get any of those top 3 places will get a trophy icon in their profile (next to the badges). These vary in color and are Gold for 1st, Silver for 2nd and Bronze for 3rd. By participating in tournaments, you can also get some badges! By joining tournaments, you receive a Badge of Competition that increases in point value depending on how many people you beat in the tournament. If you win, you get points equal to the number of people in the tournament.
Each player who loses in the semi-finals is awarded a 3rd place prize.
If you win them, you get a Badge of Victory. Each win equals one point for this particular badge.
It costs a certain amount of gold to participate, and if you were to unregistered from the tournament, you will be refunded. However, forfeiting during the tournament will not get you back your gold.
Also, by making the challenge an action challenge, there will be more spoils at the end of each match if you win.
