"Barat comes to champion his pod. Through the gates of Gheran, to the Great City of Champions, Barat comes to quench the sword thirst. Fear me now. You will not have time later..." --The Book of Challenges

"Now the Ilustrians are a curious race. A tall and slender people, they are paradoxically fierce in combat (flails and maces are their preferred weapons), lively in philosophical debate, and devoted to the musical arts. They hail from an "outer" world renowned for its pacifist nature--they have not known war for over 1,000 years. Perhaps the Arenas of Phyrra have allowed the Ilustrians to vent their collective suppressed violence..." --The Book of Duels

The world of Duels is populated by many forms of intelligent life. A walk by any of the populous streets of Phyrras, or a look in some of the many bars and parlors of guilds will convince him that the city is truly a link of time and space. Each race will have its own and unique strengths and weaknesses, factors to consider in the creation of the combatant. In future expansions, several playable races will be entered to the Sands.

[edit] Choosing a race

After you have registered with Duels, the instructions will carry through a simple process to create an Avatar, your new character. You will be able to choose the name of your character, (11 character limit), choose a race, and customize the appearance of your character.

Thousands of players exist in Duels; Therefore, try to design an unique Avatar. A random button exists ("RANDOM") that permits one to generate a character with a random appearance.

Once you click the ("Create Avatar") button, you will not be able to change the appearance of your new avatar without buying Challenge Coins, which cost real money or you can do surveys to get some. Be sure you are satisfied with the appearance before beginning to play!

When you start creating your new character you will see that there are six available playable races: Human, Elf, Cat, Undead, Orc, and Elemental (note that the class you choose has no actual impact on game play. But it does help build a story and background for your character)
