Pathless Trials

Levels 1-5 are beginner levels. These are the dueling “trials” that each fighter must pass through. Here you will build proficiency with managing your inventory, mastering the basics of combat, and gaining experience. By the time you reach Level 5, you will be prepared to select a Path. So, basically, these are the tutorial trials. Try to learn how you like to fight as you progress from level 1-5 so that you get a rough idea of which path you will take.

Do not feel discouraged at these low rungs of dueling society. It is a necessarily difficult beginning for a young duelist, but only persistence is necessary to make it to the first Path! The quests you complete are a great way to earn gold, experience, and tokens very quickly, so do not take them for granted.

Do not choose your path too impetuously. Take your time, think twice about a build that would be tactically sound, study other players and get valuable advice from them. Make some online friends while you're at it to help you along. You are embarking on a grand adventure!

After you choose a path, there's no going back. (Respec All will reset your skills, attributes, path and high path, but it costs 10 Challenge Coins, so there is a way, but you need to buy Challenge Coins first. There's also a way to change your High Path only, but the cost is still the same.) You should read up on the paths here, then select one in game. Here's a basic run-down. On the Path of the Staff you rely mainly on magic, scrolls, and damage at the beginning of the skirmish/duel. While on the Path of the Sword you rely on melee fighting, stamina, and strength to help you last through the round. If you like Shields for defense (Shields are optional), and Swords and Axes with a lot of damage, consider the Path of the Sword. But if you like Staffs, Wands and Maces and more effectiveness in your scrolls, then consider the Path of the Staff as your choice. Also, once you reach level 20, you can further specialize your training by choosing a High Path such as the High Path of the Warrior or the High Path of the Assassin for those who chose the Path of the Sword and the High Path of the Mage or the High Path of the Druid for those who chose the Path of the Staff. Note that these descriptions are very general and there are many unique character builds which can be followed that may not necessarily abide by these rules (eg: "Battle Mages" or "Tanks".)

The choice of the pathless trail does not seem to give any obvious benefit. Choosing a path gives you the benefit of skills and advantages over your opponents. The only advantage that is clear, is that if you stay pathless until you raise your level, it will help you make a better choice in which path to choose. Try going pathless until you reach a higher level, and then practice in the training grounds. When you feel that you know enough about the different paths, choose a path, then use your points in the best way possible. Remember, you only have 41 points to spend (max at level 45), so use them wisely! Going pathless until maybe level 10 would not be a bad idea. See how it works!

For the best results and better scores choose a path and progress. But go to the training grounds before you make the wrong choice and regret it.
