[edit] Introduction
A loadout is the set of equipment you carry with you into battle. It's a combination of everything you're equipping: armor, weapons, shields, etc. The loadout does not include any scrolls you equip for a specific battle. You also need to select which pet you want for each loadout.
Each loadout needs a unique name.
Each player starts with a default loadout. Default loadouts can be changed. If you save a loadout without a weapon it will appear in the display with a red x on it when you are trying to choose between loadout choices.
[edit] Selecting Your Loadout
This is one of the most important strategic choices to make before engaging in a challenge.
Loadouts provide a great amount of flexibility in one's approach to a duel. To edit one's loadout, click the loadout button (located underneath "avatar" on the left toolbar) and then drag your chosen equipment into the respective slots. Keep in mind that the Power cost of all your items put together may not exceed your power level. And most importantly, don't forget to save your loadout prior to navigating away from the page.
If you are unable to challenge others, it is most likely because you do not have a weapon in your loadout.
[edit] Saving Multiple Loadouts
It can be advantageous to save multiple layouts for flexibility between duels. Characters that use the same loadout in every fight are predictable and easy to defeat. For example, an avatar may possess both a "standard" loadout and a loadout with high-Resist gear for fighting Blast Wave characters. However, most top players create even more than this, with one or more loadouts designed for fighting each Path and High Path.
You must chose which of your equipment you want in each loadout. It is unlikely that you will be able to equip an item in each slot until you reach the highest levels of the game (if even then). In the beginning one viable strategy is to equip a cheap piece of armor and spend the rest of your power on your weapons.
The loadout manager will not let you save any changes if you have spent more power then you are allowed for your level. When you choose a Path, there are some skills that decrease the power cost of weapons and armor. Let's say you have a skill that decreases the power cost by 15%. Your maximum limit is 200, and you buy a weapon that's power is 230, you can wield it! Another point that bears mentioning--all characters are right-handed. Put your strongest weapon in your right hand (on the left of the loadout screen).
