In order to fully enjoy Duels, one needs to know just what the heck other players are talking about. Some of the shorthand used can be confusing, so here is a basic explanation of some words and abbreviations you may see in your stay here in the Duels universe.

[edit] Standard AD&D Abbreviations Used in Duels:

HP('s): Hit/Health Points*
STR: Strength
STAM: Stamina
INT: Intelligence
DEF: Defense
ARM: Armor
HIT: Hit Percentage
CRIT: Critical Hit
PERC: Perception
SPD: Speed
NIG: NigerianWarlord
ARGH'D: To be ripped off. Usage "Man, I totally got Argh'd today by a scammer"

*HP is also used to refer to the Hold Person Mage skill, but "HP" as health is far more common and universal.

[edit] Build References

Tank: Generally used to refer to a player with lots of armor, HP and defense. A typical "tank" would be a path of the sword/warrior using a shield and investing points into stamina heavily.
Dual: Refers to a player utilizing dual-wield, which allows them to use 2 weapons to inflict a greater amount of damage in a shorter period of time. These players start off as Path of the Sword, and then usually progress to Path of the Assassin.

High Path Specific Builds

IP/BW mage: This build is dependant on two strategies: evading your opponent enough that you regenerate more than you get hit or hitting a BW strong enough to do enough damage that you've pretty much won.

Guide/Sticky (A little out-of-date)

TT mage: This is strong mage that trumps every attribute other than a combination of stamina and resist. This is an attack that exchanges all of the normal attacks for 2xINT up to 2.5xINT damage at the beginning of each round.

FS mage: A mage build that damages the opponent based on INT each time the opponent makes a successful attack. Very useful versus dual warriors.

SP Assassin: Relies on precision for damage, attacking as often as possible (actions such as flurry), and evading damage while your opposition slowly dies of your multiplied poision damage.

SS Warrior: This warrior's build needs a shield instead of a second weapon. With a lot of power and speed you can do a Shield Slam. This build is reduced by Dodge. If you fight against a Gaze user you should use a loadout with a higher level of stamina than strenght or speed.

[edit] Parts of the Duel

Opener: Refers to a set of skills first obtained at level 20, which allow a player to perform a powerful buff or augmentation of their own stats or a reduction of opponents' attributes.
Buff: A scroll or action that temporarily enhances a players attributes. A typical buff might provide extra strength for 5 rounds.
AS: Action Set
1A: A duel where both participants limit themselves to one action.
1g (aka 1g1A): A duel where both participants limit themselves to one action that costs 1 gold.
