Of the many names for the necromantic god of Kthalas, Nilregal is the most universally accepted among the varied cultures of the lands. Emperor of the Twilight Plains, Hand of the Charnal River, Sorcerer of the Jagged Mountains, and Dark One of the Abyssal Sea, Nilregal commands the allegiance of the restless dead, corrupted souls, and the vengeful hordes of the blasphemous Nightbound. Nilregal and his minions stand at the frenetic edge of night and day, good and evil, ready to reclaim the land of the living, which was lost to them during the ancient War of Ascension, which ended the Age of Legends. Those original warriors who chose to follow Nilregal in retreat to the Under-Realm, rather than surrender, are known collectively as the Nightbound.
