[edit] The Machanite - Asetian War

The long standing emnity between the former Machanite tribes of Malkas (Machan) and Estias (Aseti) erupted into full scale war during the Malkan Kingdom II era. This became known as The Great Machanite – Asetian War ("The Thousand Years War") and it was fought from 78 – 1515 ME. This conflict, though interrupted by a series of truces, would rage across the entire known world. The more notable events of the war include:

The first battles fought on the continent of Phyrras occurred during the years 78 – 140 ME.

Aseti invasion of the Southern Reaches (102 ME).

Battles of the Wasteland (102 -105 ME).

Battle of the Mera Sea (110 ME).

The Siege of Machas (119 – 122 ME).

The Burning of Asetia (134 ME).

The Machanite Peasant’s War (136 – 140 ME).

135 – 200 ME: The Truce of Timbar.

The Parathian Revolt (136 – 138 ME).

The Darian Revolt (140 – 144 ME).

The Truce of Timbar is broken and war against Asetia resumes in 200 ME.

The Succession Wars/Era of the False Emperors – after Emperor Tallus Machanas I dies without a named heir, a series of civil wars between the Imperial Northern House of Machanas and the Imperial Southern House of Rathas erupts over the rightful control of the empire. Thirty-five Emperors of both houses are crowned over a period of 250 years. The Asetians take full advantage of the turmoil and seize much of the northeastern half of the empire in 500 ME. They are prevented from total victory only because of an on-going conflict with the island kingdom of Halkona (Dawnward Islands). For those in the conquered eastern provinces the next 300 years begins what has come to be known as "The Sorrows". The final triumph of the Imperial House of Machanas in 601 ME returns the throne to its bloodline under Emperor Machanas III . Imperial Capital moved back north to Machan. The next 150 years sees some of the most savage and desperate fighting as the Machanites attempt to drive the Aseti invaders from the eastern provinces. In 800 ME, the Asetians are finally pushed back across the Deshir Mountains.

[edit] The Weapon of Phyrras

In 998 ME, the High Priest of the Ordilum Sacrantas, with the support of the powerful southern military clan Kirdonas, discovers a mystical energy that, if harnessed and controlled, could become a weapon of great power. By the time of the Battle of the Plains of Phyrras, they would be ready to end the war and bring the world under the control of the rightful Machanite emperor. What followed in 1000 ME was called the Battle of the Plains of Phyrras. With the detonation of the Weapon of Phyrras, Phyrras and much of the world was devastated. It was the beginning of the Age of Darkness. Both empires plunged into chaos that would last nearly 300 hundred years. To this day, the entire world is shielded by a persistent sphere of energy that has effectively cloaked its presence from the rest of the universe.
