[edit] Quest Text

In the center of the room, the mass of smoldering flesh that was once doctor Fizroy shudders and quakes, rocking the Hall and bringing more of the already damaged ceiling crashing down onto the floor. Through the billowing dust you see something rise and step forward. Fizroy is totally encased in the bio-armor of the Singlemind. Where his eyes once were, empty sockets burn with intense green light, every other inch covered in a collection of razor plating, and slithering tentacles. As he passes the body of a downed Shindaan guard, the tendrils wrapping his leg lash out and completely enshroud the corpse. The tentacles pulse and jiggle for a few seconds, before returning to the leg, leaving only a bile-smelling and steaming green puddle behind. He looks at you, and the tentacles slowly circling his head bend themselves into the mockery of a smile.

“Hey buddy. Single mind, Single body… Singular power. Couldn’t have done it without you.”

[edit] Act 1

You hear footfalls behind you and turn, just in time to see Edgar charging the Fizroy/Singlemind hybrid, Adehgah following close behind him. Without taking his burning green sockets off of you, a tentacle lashes from his chest and wraps around Edgar’s head. Adehgah yowls in protest and fires a wand blast at his head. It bounces off, knocking the Kahn on his back, where he lies still, a smoking wound in his chest.

Edgar’s body falls, headless, to the ground, where it crawls across the floor, feeling its way.

“Don’t be silly, buddy,” Fizroy/Singlemind coos, “I am the knowledge, power, hopes and dreams of a billion Infected on a thousand worlds, concentrated in one perfect being. Concentrated in one perfect place.”

One place.

And with that thought, the Elementals rise up behind you. Fire, stone, ice and plant, also in massive, concentrated forms. They tower over you, glaring at this new abomination.

[edit] Act 2

The Fizroy hybrid sways momentarily on his feet, and then begins to laugh, an insane, echoing sound. The laughter is cut off, as ice freezes him in place. The ice cracks as he tries to move, but thick tree branches erupt from the ground, wrapping him up like his own tentacles, before the ground opens beneath him. Flames leap from the pit, as the branches drag him down, deep below the planet’s surface.

One hour later, in the ruins of the entry hall, Fizroy’s Faeries are affixing a clean white skull to the stump of Edgar’s neck. As you walk by, he stares at you, and then shrugs.

“I was trying to give you a knowing smile, but I seem to be missing lips. And a face.”

You make your way past the injured, noting Adehgah’s pathetic mewling as a pair of Faeries close his chest wound, struggling to hold a wand between them.

Suddenly, the injured Shindaan rise to their feet and, as best they can, hold their fists to their chests in salute. Shindaan Guardian Del makes his way into the room and surveys the wreckage.

“At ease,” he barks, and the Guardians nod and return to tending their wounds. Del approaches you with a severe expression on his deeply lined face.

“I generally like my agents to cause a little less collateral damage.” With a sigh, he looks at the ceiling.

“That will have to be replaced.” Around you, thick vines, tendrils of ice, flame and stone are already setting to rebuilding the Hall.

[edit] Conclusion

“It seems that the Elementals have taken further interest in us city folk. We are going to need agents familiar with them in the coming days.” Del turns to walk away, then looks over his shoulder.

“Send me a raven if you think of anyone who qualifies. “
