Badges are displayed on your Avatar Page and come with rewards such as Experience Points, Gold, and Tokens. The experience points given by earning badges are usually high enough to instantly level your character up. Nearly all badges come in four ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The higher the rank, the higher the reward. Note that the rewards for a badge are only granted once one checks the badge page, so check often in order to gain your rightful rewards!
Choose badges on menu to see your progress in the game.
Something to keep in mind: Progress in gaining a badge can only achieved by dueling someone three times or less. To make it more clear, the fourth duel between the same two avatars on the same day will reap no rewards such as badge points, Experience Points, Gold, or Tokens.
Update: The Badge rewards now accurately reflect the rewards shown in the game.
[edit] Badge of Leadership
Points for the Badge of Leadership are earned by the number of people you recruit to play Duels. One point is given for each new registration that specifies your Avatar name as a referral and makes it to lvl 10. All recruits are required to validate the email they give at the time of registration before you receive a point. Abusing the Badge of Leadership with fake referrals can result in an avatar reset or a ban from Duels, so don't make fake accounts just to earn this badge!

A Badge of Champions is earned by winning challenges. A point is the equivalent of a challenge won. Check the progress page from time to time to automatically redeem points for the number of challenges you've won.

A Badge of Service is earned by being registered for a certain period of time. A point is the equivalent of a month of playing Duels. Check the progress page from time to time to automatically redeem points for the number of months you've played.

A Badge of Assistance is earned by being helpful to other players in the forums. Points are given manually by the administrators at their discretion.

The Badge of Origin is given to those brave souls who have been here since the very beginning, before most of you were even dueling. They played during the days of Duels Beta. Unlike all other current badges, the Badge of Origin has only one level, not four, and cannot be earned at this time, as it is only granted to those who served in the past.

A Badge of Competition is earned by competing in Tournaments. The later you stay un-eliminated in a Tournament, the more points you will receive. For example, if you are eliminated in round 1 you will receive 1 Badge of Competition point. However, if you win a 64 person Tournament you will receive 64 Badge of Competition points.

The Badge of the Sword Slayer is given to those who have slain several followers of the Path of the Sword. These points are only awarded for defeating duelists that have not yet chosen a high path and can only be won through challenges, not skirmishes. Visit the badges page to gain points for this badge. One point is awarded for each challenge won.

The Badge of the Staff Slayer is given to those who have slain several followers of the Path of the Staff. These points are only awarded for defeating duelists that have not yet chosen a high path. Visit the badges page to gain points for this badge. This still can be done even if you have chosen a high path.
